Does anyone
recognise the following DEC module?
HIGH SPEED MOS MEM MAT MS1440 G401C
SOunds like one of the special MOS memory boards for the 11/45 series. It
was faster than using plain Unibus memory (which did work BTW, no matter
what some DEC mnuals might have you believe).
There was also an even faster (300ns cycle?) bipolar RAM board for the
11/45.
I seem to recall that the memory content had something to do with
the model designation.
The 11/45 was equipped with standard (non-fastbus) memory (MF11);
the 11/50 came with fastbus MOS (MS11-C),
the 11/55 was the fastbus/bipolar (MS11-B) equipped machine.
At one time we had all three versions at my workplace. Later on we
replaced the /55's bipolar with something called UFUM, a single board
128kw replacement, and at the time, the fastest memory available for
the /45 series.
Able also built a fastbus/MOS replacement called the SCAT
