To be fair, I was never any good at cursive, despite many classroom
hours with the Palmer method (remember the special 3-line paper and
special pens?). Try as I might, I never got any better than "What
the hell is this?" grades in penmanship.
Block-printing I learned to do quickly and well as a radio amateur.
Which seems to imply that motivation is a big contributor to
excellence...
