Indeedy. I was working with one of our academics yesterday (he's a
mathematician) and he actually uses computers to do things, whereas I tend
to use computers as computers - they don't really have to do too much other
than e-mail, news and WinAMP...
The other point on this example is that you can do lots of real interesting
stuff without needing that 600MHz Alpha and 2Gb of memory, though it's fun
to have a system like that too....
