On a fairly modern hard drive, I seem to recall an article in a paper
describing the use of a STM for data recovery. As I recall, the rate
was VERY low--something like a kilobit per hour.
You'd die before you got a gigabyte.
Even with the typical 'disk gigabyte' of 1e9 bytes, I get it as over 900
years...
