Good heavens. Why would THAT make it completely worthless?
Doesn't quite make it useless, I do use it to compile Linux packages to see
if they work, I can vouch that Unreal IRCD runs, and there's a bug with the
Gentoo kernel on Sparc as it locks up during boot at RTC_CMOS, whereas
Debian loads fine past that.
When I say worthless, I meant that very few people even care about the old
Sun systems around here, most I've seen were scrapped for their metal value
and the rest are gutted. The software support isn't all that great as Sun
(more like Oracle) no longer officially supports it with the latest
releases of Solaris, nor have they really released a lot of documentation
on the hardware to make it easier to develop alternative OSes for them,
it's more like they would rather you scrap everything you have and buy
their latest and (not so) greatest hardware, usually Intel based.
