How does a PDP-11 boot from an RQDX3 controller?
Jerome Fine replies:
Why are you bothering with an old PDP-11/23? There are much faster
systems that are readily available and since you have ONLY four serial
channels (I presume that you are using an M8043/DLV11-J module),
why would you not switch to a faster, more capable system?
It might have something to do with the fact that I have 10 of them in the
basement, and parts to build another 1 or 2. Most of them have only a 10 meg
hard drive.
I am graduating to the 11/53 so I can run 2.11BSD. I have a couple M7554's
and I'm working mostly on them. I'd like to get rid of most of the 11/23's
once I have them in a state where they'd be worth having.
I'd be willing to trade an 11/23 system for a Qbus SCSI card that will work
with 2.11BSD on the 11/53. But I'm getting ahead of myself -- I'm not ready
to worry about the SCSI conversion yet. I need to get the parts on hand
working first.
