At one time, I owned a Roberts/Akai reel-to-reel tape deck
(valve/tube model) in the 60's with a 5-pin DIN input connector. It
was years before I figured out what it was, as it wasn't labeled.
"Regular" input was via quarter-inch mono phone jacks.
