Umm ... The inventor had no idea how they worked,
so scrap that idea.
No idea how they worked internally - or no idea how they really interacted
with the outside world? There's a big difference between the use of something
being possible and it being optimal, after all; the former can be done with
observation, but the latter needs real understanding.
