BTW, can NOS (or even used) LCD displays for the PC1211 be found? I have
I suspect it will be very hard to find one now... When the machine was
officially supportyed, Sharp (at least in the UK) were very good about
supplying spares. I ordered (and got) many psrts for my PC1500, which I
had damaged from eperiemnting with the hardware/ I remember goign to a
main dealer in London to get a replacement I/O chip, for exmaple. And yes
I did have to replace the dispaly in my PC1500 after I dropped it...
I suspect PC1211 parts were similar. And you could probably have got it
from Radio Shack National Parts. There was a Radio
Shack service manaul
for the PC1211 and it lists all the parts.
one that I love, with the printer, etc. But the LCD is
dead :(
is the dispaly toally black or totally yellow? Or is tit broken?
I am told that theses machines were designed to run off 5.4V (4
mercurycells) and if fitted iwth silver oxide cells (SR44s) _some_
machines behave oddly. This is something I may be investigating...
