Dehomag was *founded* as a subsidiary and was reabsorbed.
IBM did cooperate with the Nazis (there's a long tradition of American
companies supplying both sides during wars), but they were *never* a
German company.
Hollerith founded one of IBM's antecedent companies in 1896, **in the
United States**. Specifically, in Washington, DC. Hollerith was of
German descent, but was born in Buffalo, NY, and was decidedly American.
