Do remember that Ubuntu is "Linux for human
beings" - for newbies and
Windows users, *not* for Linux experts. There are *lots* of distros
for them.
I consider myself a UNIX expert (and a Linux one by extension) and
I'm quite happy with Ubuntu as my primary desktop OS. It does nothing
to keep people who know what they're doing from doing whatever they want
to do.
