explain that my IIci
immediately
recognised the 16 MB I added into it (before, it had
only run on 8), and
immediately found a way for the OS to take over the absolute majority of that
memory, leaving me with about as much (little) free memory as before.
Without 32-bit addressing enabled, the MacOS can only access 8 MB RAM.
Anything more is reported as being used by the system.
You need to switch from 24-bit to 32-bit addressing in the Memory control
panel.
