Bit before my time, although I successfully networked a bunch of Mac
Classics to a PDP-11 running DECwrite (or some other palaeolithic
word-processor) in the late 1980s, so that the Mac users could scan
text under MacOS, OCR it with Caere Omnipage and then upload the
results to the PDP using Kermit.
It was a fairly new PDP-11, too. Only a few years old. Some *heroic*
DEC salesman sold my client -- a Manx firm of solicitors -- a PDP plus
a dozen terminals in the mid-1980s as a wordprocessing solution!
But the PDP kinda sorta survived as the VAX, and RSX-11 kinda sorta
evolved into VAX-VMS... no?
