What I can't figure out is why they need to make
so many kinds of
*NEW* transistors?
Because there are so many applications with different
requirements.
However, I think there may actually be fewer distinct types of
transistors on the market than there were in the late 1970s.
Manufacturing processes have been tightened up enough that fewer
performance bins are necessary for a given die type.
