Apparently the bidders disagree. I'm not a magazine collector, myself. The
197x's Kilobaud and Byte, etc, mag's go into the dumpster as they surface ... I
do give them to folks who ask for them when they're here, so I'm sure they'll
take 'em.

Even at $50, the price is high. At the time, Popular
Electronics had a
circulation of well into six figures, and a lot of hobbyists saved them.
$10-$15 per issue seems more like it to me, with $20-$25 for absolutely mint
copies.

Take a look at the bid history, and you will find two bidders fighting it
out. The price without the fighting looks like it would have been about or so. The bidding war just illustrates why it is
not a good idea to bid
your maximum bid early.
