What's the exact message? It sounds probably that you need to replace the
NVRAM, around $20. Look for the NVRAM faq on the 'net for better info on
it.

Incidentally, the chip almost invariably passes diags and allows a boot if
you VERY quickly cycle power to the machine. I don't know why it is but
it works even if it is a horrible thing to do to a computer.
