I'd argue that IBM machinery definitely had a
personality -- reliable,
solid, strong, definitive. ?Artistic or creative? ?No. ?But intriguing all
the same.

Except for the beige box 70s and 80s, IBM hardware has consistently
managed to get high praise from the industrial design folks.
