The OS and kickstart roms don't have native support for USB. Someone
(can't remember who) wrote a USB stack called poseidon. It comes with
the deneb board. Other people still have written drivers for certain
USB ethernet adapter chipsets. I had two of these lying around, but
I'm not sure if they're the right chipsets. I haven't tried to make
it work yet, although it's on the agenda.
