FWIW, after NetBSD 1.5, the boot.mop file they
distribute got borked,
which wasn't fixed until either NetBSD 3.0 or the -current branch.
I had a
quick loot at the CVS. The fix is in -current and -4_BETA.
I sugest to give -4_BETA a try:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/netbsd-4/200608280000Z/vax/
You can also use NetBSD-3 with the netboot from 1.5.1 or 4_BETA.
