I have some compatibility questions.
Has OpenVMS lost the ability to restore older VAX/VMS save sets,
OpenVMS vs VMS is more of a marketing driven name change than anything
which signifies any change of functionality or compatibility.
I have used (Open)VMS Alpha V8.2 to restore tapes containing save sets written
on VAX/VMS V5.2-2 without any issues. I expect I could also use the same
system to restore save sets written by even earlier versions but I don't know
for sure.
and can it restore those from a PDP-11?
I don't know the answer to that one.
