In the last few days I finished an extension for Firefox 2 and 3 with
improved support for Gopherspace in Mozilla, including a skinnable new
interface and CSO/ph/qi queries. I think people who haven't played in
Gopherspace in a long time will be surprised at the landscape. Even
though
even UMN has abandoned the venerable
gopher.tc.umn.edu, the
population has
shifted to small servers and personal sites and a frontier

almost "the way it used to be." I still get an announcement about a
new
server every week on average, which is not bad for an allegedly "dead"
protocol that's over 15 years old.
That is just too damn cool. I was a regular user of gopher in the
early 1990s but haven't seen it since, oh, probably 1994 or so. I'll
pull down your plugin and give it a shot. Thanks for writing it!
