that thing might get hot and buzz in a short circuit but will not
catch on fire. Like those small AC motor windings.
Maybe, but I've also seen them with thermal fuses as well as the
usual pigtail glass ones inside the "wart". Impedance protection
won't save you from a shorted primary winding.
