I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm saddened that the company
I worked for for twenty years (Apple COMPUTER) no longer exists.
I understand why it's happening, it's just very sad to see the
'production'
side of the product line slipping away to high volume devices geared to
'consumption' and generating a constant revenue stream under their total control.
Will China start making low-margin open content products to fill the void, or
would they conclude there isn't enough money to be made to bother. I've been
wondering why we we haven't seen a 'kindle killer' yet from them that handles
ordinary pdf.
It may just be their domestic consumption is increasing fast enough that they
won't bother with products for US export in the future.
