dirty learning the basics. Everything it taught by
computer simulations
where the user has no clue what is really going on at the basic level
I remember a quote attributed to I.K. Brunell : 'Any third-rate engineer
can make a complicated device more complicated. It takes a genius to go
back to first principles'. I suspect, alas, there are too many third-rate
engineers around now :-)
I sometimes wonder if all the people who actually understand how a
computer works at the bit level -- who can actually think in terms of AND
gates, OR gates and D-types, are on this list :-)_
