[Buying stuff at industrial/military/gov't
auctions]
There should be a 'boatanchor FAQ' somewhere online that explores
this topic (if there already isn't one it should be created)
Don Lancaster covers many aspects of real world surplus auctions
at his website,
http://www.tinaja.com/, when he talks about
sources for surplus test equipment etc.
He mostly talks about government/military/edu surplus (where the terms
are up-front but not always friendly and in the case of the gov't
and military are completely inflexible), and has a couple
notes about sleazeball commercial surplus auctioneers/practices.
