Which is exactly what screwed Apple until Steve came back. Any new OS had to support
all the (important) old Mac OS apps, trap-patching and all. The notion about caring
about old versions of our (or third party) compatibility slowly disappeared, as you know,
until now, where anything older than x86-64 isn't 'interesting'. Who knows
when the
split to Apple-unique ARM will happen, locked to the net and the mothership.
