Absolutely not.
It would seem to me that plastic is unstable enough (it's a major
headache for a lot of non-computer museums). If I were a conservator
(and I'm not), if appearance was important, I'd probably spray with a
water-based paint that can be easily washed off.
An awful lot of old cases were painted anyway.
