This is true. I ran tech operations for a large colo firm for years,
I'm definitely not opposed to them, but my machines will be running in
*my* building, and that's that. :)

How about So Cal? I have the same issue with my
servers crammed into my
apartment. I'm starting to consolidate them all onto my new-to-me 2-way
POWER6, so that helps, and the POWER6 as loaded as it is still "only" uses
around 300W. But there's a lot of heat to go around in sunny So Cal, current
weather excepted.
Time to move.
