I don't have any objection to that notion; those of us with fat TCP pipes
could serve as concentrators for such hops. However, I believe the
original intent of the proposed resurrection was to carry at least some
of the traffic on serial dialup. That still seems like a good idea.
Does anyone recall who was originally going to coordinate all of this?
Have they fallen off the face of the planet?
