Although I assume we can all check our systems and boards and
come up
with all of these, wouldnt it be much nicer (and
cheaper) if you just
get the ROM contents as binary files, which you then plug into an
eprom?

the binaries are around, but finding a eprom might be tricky.
Actually, finding blank roms isn't that bad buy then you have to find a
burner that knows what to do with a 4*256device...
