Point being that it's possible to emulate a HD 500Khz floppy using an 8MHz
AVR; an 80MHz ARM is quite tame.

So, according to the manual I have, the data rate is 5megabits/sec. But, the
pulse width that you need to detect (and generate) is 50ns, requiring the
signal to be sampled at 25ns intervals, or 40MHz. Someone suggested to me
that even 40MHz may not be enough, but I have not had a reply back when I
asked what a better sampling frequency might be.
