I'm tossing up whether or not to buy some
replacements or make them. I know
REAL classic computer guys don't BUY replacement Lisa keypads...they MAKE
OK, I am not a 'real' classic computer guy then. Perhaps I'm 'integer'
or 'complex' :-)
More seriously, I will buiy the right spare part if it;s available (and I
have an idea that these Keytronics pads are avaialble as you suggest). I
make parts when ;
1) the origianl part is simply unobtainable
2) I would have to replace a lot more than I need to (e.g. in the case of
the Lisa keyboard if I could only get complete keyboards, rather than just
the pads).
3) If the 'right' spare part is ridiculously expensive (compared to my
cost to make it).
Alas in a lot of cases with my machiens at least one of those is true,
which is why I rewind motors/transformers, machine new mechancial bits,
add kludgeboards to use chips I can get. etc.
But if yoyu can get anf afford the right part, I'd do that.
