This reminds me of an age-related problem I have with a Sony GV-8
"Video Walkman," which may begin to affect other flat-panel devices.
It has a white line across the color panel. I spoke with a repair
tech who said his has the same problem, and he diagnosed it as a
breakdown of the sealing compound that oxidizes the very thin
conductors that drive those scan lines.
