It all depends on your point of view. If you're interested in historic
preservation, then keeping every little bit of information about the item
is important. If you don't care about preservation, then use whatever
works. My point was that the raw file data does not represent the entirety
of a tape.
To put it another way, are the files from a Victor 9000 floppy the same as
the floppy itself?
