I ran a BBS using QuickBBS in the mid to late
80's, right at
the tail end of support for the non-80 column displays for the
Neat! Someone else here used QuickBBS as well. :-)
<snip>
Out of curisoty, do you still have any of your
message-base files from
your QuickBBS BBS? I wanted to write a program, under UNIX, that can
read these files and extract the text from the other data contained in
these files, but never got around to it; never had any complete
info. about the data-file structure. Is anyone here familiar with
doing this?

Amazingly, I just located what appears to be one of my ZIP'd
backups for my board, as well as two disks containing the original
archives for QuickBBS 2.64 as well as various doors and utilities,
such as Prodoor and the CBS verification door. Most of this stuff
dates from about 1989 or 90, which is the last time I really toyed
with the idea of continuing to run the board. I didn't notice if the
fossil was there or not, but then again I didn't unzip any of it.
