If you are running backup and it is asking for additional tapes, then I believe you can do
the following
^Y
$spawn
$
$reply/enable=all
initialize additional tapes as needed (prior tape should have rewound?)
mount tape
$reply/to=MESSAGEID
$exit
$continue
