Are you ssying the disks aren't running either? If
so this sounds more
like a PSU problem than a fan problem,
I would start by measuring the votlage at the fan connector. The expected
votlage should eb marked o nthe fan. Do you get any voltag at all between
the fan terminals? What about the power conenctors for the disk drives? I
woudl expect a +5V and +12V supply there, are you gettign both of them?
Does anything happen when you press 'start'?
I hope i was pretty clear about the type of machine (SGI Challenge
S) :-)
It is a sony power supply (aps 81)
At power on the led on the corner blinks red and then goes over to a
steady green.
The disk and the fan doesn't starts.
Remark: the old disk was an apple badged scsi disk who started to show
read errors so i replaced it with an IBM dfhs disk.
That disk could of course be bad.
What was the usual serial settings for Challenge S ?
The machine has been on a shelf for almost 2 years with a balky hd for 2
years when i replaced the disk at tuesday.
