Sorry, but I agree with Zane and Chuck. This list was set up explicitly
to get away from discussion of PCs and Windows, to discuss classic
hardware and systems, and to avoid the mess that places like
alt.computer.hardware.homebuilt became. There may be times when a
particular combination for a particular purpose is peripherally on
topic, but -- no offence to the original poster -- IMNSHO general
discussion of Windows/PCs is not.
The hardware for the x86 PC progressed from an 8088
thru a 286, 386,
486, and Pentium.
Rather like PDP-11 processors and their from 1970 to 1995, or ARM
processors from 1984 to the present day, to mention but two.
Oh, and while I'm in grumpy mode, could people please trim their posts? :-)
