Are these SIMM tabs particularly vulnerable, especially on this old
equipment? I broke them on 2 machines, and on the 2nd one I did, I was
trying to be very careful.

Bob, visit Junkyard Jeff's sight and you should find a replacement logic
board for your machine for a very nominal price. Much easier to replace
the whole board than any size SIMM socket.
