Oh my gosh! I just found a document that says units with
A-D firmware rev levels do NOT have the firmware resident
diagnostics!
That seems to be the likely cause of the problem. Does
anybody have the EPROM dump from an E65E or above firmware
of an Emulex QD21 ESDI disk controller? I have plenty of
128K EPROMS here to reprogram.
I have dumps of E65G and E65J handy. Those are 32KB dumps so you need
a 256K EPROM, not a 128K EPROM. E65J is what I currently have
installed on all of my QD21 controllers.
