For a Pro the max was an RD53. I have a few of those running as well.
MFM can be big; depends on what your controller can support. Once you
get to ESDI it's a lot better; I run a half height CDC Wren at 330mb and
I have an 870mb full height drive if needed.

As many as you want if you emulate one with David Gesswein's emulator.
How much larger can an MFM drive actually be? I don't know, my use for that emulator
is in a Pro which can only handle 16 bit block numbers.
