I remember reading about a naive young bride who asked the supermarket
clerk to help her find a box of scratch because that's what her husband
said his mother made everything from.

Billions of lines of COBOL still in use. New standard was published in
2023. Fortran standard committees are meeting in Coventry this week
putting the final touches on Fortran 2028.
