The KA630 will definitely work in a BA23 with a H9278 backplane I have
one, but now the BA23 is used for an 11/73.
I also had a QD21 at one time and vaguely remember the procedure you
talk about, which did work for me.
What slot are you putting the QD21 into? Remember the backplane has
ABCD for the first three slots, but ABAB from there on and the grants
must be continuous.
