addendum:
The solstice sticks are not due to observation and planning.
Just needed a little shade when watching the sunset from my hammock.
Building anothe sundial.
I found some garden gnome, and one with a pointy head that can cast a
shadow.
But, he's kinda Jamaican.
So, I make a sign that says, "Gnomes?? No mon, We're gnomen"
