That is not quite how I remember it...
Microsoft used some key technology from it in
developing WindowsNT.
Within Microsoft's offerings, NT competed with non-NT windows, such as
Windows95, Windows98, and Windows2000.
One small slip here:
The DOS-based versions were 95 (& (& 95A, 95B, & 95C), 98 (& 98SE) and
ME.
Windows 2000 is NT 5.0.
Naming a version after the year it is released is
great for sales in the
first year, and a serious liability in subsequent years, unless there is
actually going to be a new version every year (as automobiles do)
