I received samples of the 2N5771 and have tested them. They are perfect
replacements for the 2N3639 . Actually the 2N5771 has the better
performance.
I have also tested the PN4258 which too is a very good replacement for the
2N3639.
These transistors are available from various sources, but are obsolete (no
longer manufactured) so DIgikey, Mouser etc don't stock them.

It is made using "Process 65" which is the same as what was used for the
2n3639.
The 2N5771 is no longer made, but still available from various sources.
I will try to get a few for testing and report back how it went.
