I use the drive mostly for spot checks on tapes,rather than for archiving. The SCSI controller has a 256KB buffer and will shoeshine things to death if it can't get a solid read. I recommend a good drive; an M4, Cipher, HP, Fujitsu, CDC etc. The Qualstar is too much of a dog walking on its hind legs, if you catch my drift. All the best, Chuck
