Of course prior to this, in the early days of Mac OS
X, they dropped
support for AppleTalk, then AppleTalk printing. Then MacOS 9 apps, and
now more recently 32-bit MacOS Apps.
And yet Mac OS 9 itself will happily run many programs dating back to System 6
or earlier, thanks to the 68K emulator, though 8.6 was probably the
compatibility peak.
