Yes there where people call Program Support Rep (PSR) in the early 80s
in Canada at least there was an attempt made to push them into working
in support centers. The large system PSR in the branch I was in was
eligible for retirement so he retired and started working as a
consultants for all the same customers. When I transferred to the
Toronto Lab I met some former midrange PSRs there that had been
recruited to support the S/34 OS and later write software for S/36 and
S/38 and still later AS/400.

THen there were the PSRs...weren't they the people that helped figure out why the
system kept crashing? Or am I losing it in my old age.
