Not necessarily a very enticing proposition for a lot of folks.
I was fixing 'old' computers all day anyway [1].
But starting at 14:00 and going on until I'm tired would probably give
5-6 hours of repair time. Which is not a lot when faced with a
non-working machine that I've never seen before, however well I know
that type of machine. Actually, I probably would have gone, had I been
nearer. But having an ocean in the way does make things difficult...
[1] Still doing battle with the Philips P3800 that we discussed the
lock from some time back (still need to do more on that part!). I am
hoping an ATX power supply, chosen because they are cheap and have
logic-level on/off switching, can be used to replace the missing
Philips board. So my bench is covered in bits of ATX power supply in
various states of dismantled-ness.
